Our mission work here depends on your financial support.

Please prayerfully consider financially supporting our work by clicking here

There are very few things you can invest in that can have such an impact on so many people in need.

Vern's Work...

Our work in Guatemala is a labor of love... we know that, but we pay for more than 90% of all expenses here by ourselves.

Vern makes this money by working remotely as a computer programmer / consultant. If you can't help by making a donation, please consider hiring Vern for your next computer need... website development; virus removal; software installation; training; etc.

Every penny he earns through his work as a computer consultant goes directly to supporting our missionary work in Guatemala.

http://www.VernSix.com is his personal website.

URGENT NOTICE

We have been called by God to serve Guatemala, particularly the children, and we intend to always be walking out that call.

We have sold our house, all of our replaceable belongings and have committed ourselves to this work. We work in an around the small town of Esquipulas, Guatemala and Chiquimula, Guatemala which are both located close to the borders with Honduras and El Salvador. This area was selected because of all the devastation brought to this area by Hurricane Stan in 2005.

Our goal is to show the love of Christ to the Guatemalan people and to provide an avenue of outreach for the people of North America. We will provide that avenue of outreach by developing, seeking and coordinating short term mission group projects and visits as well as seeking financial support from Christians in North America to carry out our work here.

Some of the things we do here in Guatemala include:

  • Feeding Centers - We are working with a great group of other missionaries trying to abolish starvation here, especially in children. We currently have seven different feeding centers that feed a total of over 800 children three times per week! We are currently building a new website specifically for the Feeding Centers project. Check back here soon for more details.

  • Water Purification - One of the leading causes of illness here is the poor water supply. Vern's specialty has always been water purification and other basic survival needs. He enjoys teaching these life saving techniques to the wonderful people of Guatemala. It's amazing how a $22 filter can filter enough drinking water for up to 30 people per day and can be built with supplies readily available here.

  • Medical Missions - Since Ranae is a nurse, we have been active in supporting medical mission trips to this area.

  • English Classes - We have been asked by several churches in Guatemala and one church in Honduras to teach English to their members.

  • Computer Classes - We are in the process of creating a curriculum to teach much needed computer job skills to local residents. Learning computer skills is essential to competing in the growing job market here and elsewhere.

Mother Teresa said it best when she said, "The poor do not need our sympathy or our pity. The poor need our love and compassion."

With God's help we intend to show our love and compassion and the love and compassion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the people of Guatemala.

Your missionaries,
Vern and Ranae

"We need to find God, and God cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  God is the friend of silence. See how nature--trees and flowers and grass--grow in silence. See the stars, the moon, and the sun, how they move in silence. The more we receive in silent prayer, the more we can give in our active life.", Mother Teresa
